2025
Rose created and curated ‘Downland: art and the archaeological imagination in Wiltshire‘ at the Wiltshire Museum, September 2025 – January 2026.
The exhibition explored artist’s approaches to the archaeological landscapes of Wiltshire, and responses to objects and collections in the Wiltshire Museum. Rose curated work by Norman Ackroyd, Thomas Guest, John Piper, Henry Moore, Paul Nash and Eric Ravilious Julian Trevelyan, as well as antiquarian books and drawings by EJ Burrows, Phillip Crocker and William Stukeley. Rose created new collages and prints, inspired by the archaeology, research and objects in the museum, and assembled artworks. The exhibition explored four main themes: Chalk Earthworks; Stone Landscapes; Assemblages; and Archaeology for the Future.
A catalogue for the exhibition was published by St Judes, including many of the images from the exhibition and essays by David Dawson, Melanie Giles, Lesley McFadyen and Rose. Cards featuring some of the artworks are available from Rather Good Art.
The exhibition was visited by Her Majesty the Queen in January 2026.
